Member of SPAWAR 1010 and a part of the division's Network Support Fly-Away Team. This team travels to ships in the fleet and conducts technology training on-site for sailors who are unable, due to ship's movements, to attend regular schools. Training is held on several ships during the trip in an active, high-stress environment. Material includes network basics, network hardware, TCP, Windows Server, Exchange, Active Directory, UNIX, and other topics. Training is coordinated with each command and is tailored to each ship's needs and each ship's environment.
Acting as unit muster petty officer. Responsible for taking an accurate count of unit members during drill weekends. Resolve pay and muster issues with the Support Center Personnel staff. Member of Network Services Team, providing technical training for the Fleet.
Prior to being with SPAWAR, was assigned to the Non Prior Service Training Unit, NOSC Austin, Texas. Trained and managed new recruits through all initial phases of USNR life from prepping for boot camp to their initial deployment to units. Provided classroom and on-the-job instruction in areas of policy & procedure, human resources, marching & drill, and general military knowledge. Tracked medical needs for new sailors; insured that any discrepancies were resolved and all sailors were medically fit for any challenges. Coordinated petty officers assisting the unit in the performance of their delegated duties. Ensured the CO's book for the unit was properly turned in at the end of each drill weekend. This meant musters were in order, drills were rescheduled for members who were absent, tasks were completed, memos/messages were passed on to the unit, and any other required duties were performed.
Provide tech support to the university community and provide support and management to several university-related websites. Administer two computer labs, assist faculty and staff with new technology initiatives, assign tech support jobs to technicians and/or student workers, and teach training classes for faculty, staff and students.
Managed sales, repair and refurbishing of all Macintosh-based computer systems for two stores. Was responsible for diagnostic & repair equipment, software, and parts. Developed customer relations, project management and team-building skills in a sales, consulting and technical capacity. Served as managing editor of Texas State University at San Marcos's campus newspaper. Managed editorial staff of 30 writers, designers, photographers and copy editors; established deadlines, story budgets, assigned photography and served as editorial liaison to the advertising and business departments. The tabloid-sized paper was published four days each week during fall and spring semesters, once weekly during summers.
