About RAMsey

Welcome to the web site for Pat Ramsey, an accessibility consultant and web designer based in Austin, Texas. A device-independent Web is my dream and I believe we can achieve that with style – an accessible Web doesn’t have to be a poorly designed Web.

I used to be with Southwestern University in their Information Technology Services department. Over a period of several years I became the self-appointed Web Standards and Accessibility go-to guy. In April of 2007, I left Southwestern to strike out on my own. I am active in Refresh Austin and I serve on the advisory boards for AIR Austin and AIR Interactive. I’ve also conducted training in basic accessibility, captioning multimedia and beginning CSS. I have some S5 presentations available on the topics of Standards Based Design.

My resume is here and my portfolio is coming together. (I’m still adding content.) Lately I’ve been documenting how to install and work with MAGpie 2, which you can use to create captioned Flash video. (captioned YouTube would be Nirvana.)

When I am unplugged, I enjoy travel, cooking and a well-made cocktail. I’ve even been known to enjoy a rare cigar; not in allergy season, though. I’m a Native Texan and am a conversational speaker of Spanish – well-enough to make it in Panama and Honduras.

If you think you might have work for me or if you just want to drop me a note or a question, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Cheers!

The Web for everyone. The Web on everything. Cheers!
