Playing in the Sand

Posted by: pat In: Design / CSS

Update: Forget everything I said previously. I’ve deleted the old text in this post and am updating it instead of making a new entry. Sometimes a design hits a dead-end and you can’t take it any further. It’s hard to recognize when you’re in the middle of trying to see it through, but after taking a little time away from it, at least for me, you come back and realize there’s a whole new design that fits better and makes more sense. That’s what happened to me.

The Victorian English exploration idea is still a good one, but I couldn’t find the way to make it a reality. Instead, I have this one. It’s darker, but the idea for the green-on-black-ish look came to me from my preferred color scheme for Mac OS X’s Terminal. I like using green text on black when I’m in the command line interface. That’s something of a holdover from the days of command line terminals. (Showing my age, eh?)

I’m still basing my work off of Sandbox. Right now, only the static homepage uses the new design. I’ll incorporate it to the rest of the site progressively.

Cheers for now!
